IMPACT OF TARIFFS ON U.S. DELIVERIES
WILL I BE CHARGED ADDITIONAL TAXES OR DUTIES ON MY ORDER?
International shipments may be subject to duties and taxes depending on the item being shipped and the countries of the sending and receiving parties. Payment for all duties and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer or receiving party at the time of delivery.
For United States-bound deliveries: Starting late August, the U.S. government will officially end the de minimis exemption for low-value international packages.
This policy change may impact how Japanese goods are imported into the
United States, especially for orders under $800 that were previously
exempt from tariffs. At AMPED JAPAN, we want to ensure you're fully
informed so you can continue shopping confidently and with clarity.
1. What is the “De Minimis” rule and what has happened recently?
On July 30, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order
to suspend the U.S. “de minimis” rule, which previously allowed most
imported goods valued under $800 to enter the country without customs
duties or formal clearance.
This change goes into effect on August 29, 2025, and will apply broadly to low-value packages from all countries,
including Japan. Even smaller shipments, like your regular orders from
AMPED JAPAN, will now be subject to U.S. tariffs and customs
processing, regardless of their value.
However, there’s an important update for AMPED JAPAN customers. As part of recent trade negotiations, tariffs on imports from Japan have been reduced to 15%,
down from previously higher rates (which could have reached 25% or more for
some categories). This new 15% tariff will apply to qualifying goods
entering the U.S. once the de minimis exemption ends.
While this still means an added cost for U.S. customers, Japan now enjoys one of the lowest tariff rates among foreign suppliers, reflecting strengthened trade relations and mutual cooperation.
2. How will this action affect AMPED JAPAN customers?
If you're an AMPED JAPAN customer in the United States, please be aware that starting August 29, 2025, all packages shipped from Japan, regardless of value, will no longer qualify for the $800 duty-free exemption under the U.S. de minimis rule.
This change means that:
- Every order from AMPED JAPAN, even under $800, will be subject to import duties;
- For packages from Japan, the applicable tariff rate has been confirmed as 15%, based on the IEEPA tariff structure;
If you’re shopping from Canada, the UK, Australia, Asia, etc., this U.S. policy
does not affect your orders. Your local import thresholds remain unchanged at this time.
3. What should I do in response to this change?
If you're an AMPED JAPAN customer in the U.S., the best thing you can do
right now is plan ahead and shop smart.
Here’s how you can stay ahead and save:
Shop non PRE-ORGER items early while the $800 duty-free limit still applies
Until August 29, you can continue to enjoy duty-free imports under $800. This means now is the perfect time to:
- Stock up on your favorite BAND-MAID CD's, DVD's, Blu-rays, Books and Scores;
- Place gift orders or restock essentials before tariffs take effect.
Buy in bundles to maximize savings
AMPED JAPAN can bundle orders where we combine items across categories. By bundling now, you:
- Get more value per shipment;
- Save on international shipping fees;
- Lock in current prices before the 15% import duty kicks in.
With the end of the de minimis exemption taking effect on August 29, 2025, we encourage you to place your orders for non PRE-ORDER items early to take full advantage of the current duty-free threshold. CAN I RETURN OR EXCHANGE MY ITEM?
At this time we are not able to offer returns or exchanges. Please carefully review your order including product title, format, color choice and size selection before you confirm your purchase.
CAN YOU HELP WITH A DAMAGED PRODUCT?
We apologize that you received a damaged item. Please send a photo of the damaged product to orders@bandmaidshop.com with your information and we would be happy to help you with a resolution. Please note, any damaged item outside of a 90 day return window cannot be returned or refunded.
WHAT IF MY ITEM IS FAULTY?
Goods are classified as faulty if they are received damaged, or where a manufacturing fault occurs within 3 months of purchase. After 3 months from your order date, items are not considered faulty and are as a result of normal wear and tear.

ORDERS & TRACKING
PACKAGE SENT BY JAPAN POST HASN'T ARRIVED YET

If you have chosen "JAPAN POST Small Packet - Registered Airmail" as your shipping method at checkout, please allow 7-14 business days or more from the date of shipment (not including weekend days or the day the parcel was collected by Japan Post) for the item to arrive and or/for the tracking status to update from "Dispatch from outward office of exchange."
The "Dispatch from outward office of exchange" status means that the parcel has already left Japan and is en route to the final destination.
Once Japan Post parcels have the "Dispatch from outward office of exchange" status all further shipping updates, including delivery are no longer directly under our control.
Shipping delays could be caused by weather conditions, flight reductions, customs clearance at the destination, and global issues such as pandemics, etc.
Please also track the package on your local postal system to get more information.
In some cases, delivery status cannot be updated for a while when packages are stuck at customs.

If delivery status of your package matches the following conditions and hasn't been updated for a while, please go to your local post office's website to track the package and follow the instructions.
・Item presented to import Customs
・Held by import Customs/In Customs
In this stage, the package might be awaiting payment of customs duties/taxes or require documentation. Since the package might be missing as well, please contact your local customs as soon as possible.
・Item held at delivery depot/delivery office
・Processing at delivery Post Office
The package might be awaiting payment of customs duties/taxes. Sometimes the package may be awaiting pick-up due to unsuccessful delivery attempt.
Please go to your nearby post office in person to collect the package as soon as possible since packages might be returned to sender if it exceeds the retention period at the post office.

If your package does not match either of the conditions above and the problem can't be resolved after contacting your local Customs and post office, please send the information below to BANDMAIDSHOP.COM customer service:
1. Order details from the shop with order number, price and quantity listed

We will file a report to have Japan Post investigate the issue once we receive the information above.
WHEN WILL YOU RESTOCK?
Many BAND-MAID items are produced as limited editions and stock may sell out at any time. If there is an item that can be restocked, we are working hard to restock it soon. Please subscribe to our email newsletter to be one of the first notified when items are back in stock.
WHERE IS MY ORDER?
For non pre-order items, once an order is placed, please allow two to four business days for the order to be packed and shipped from our warehouse. Upon shipment, you will receive an email with your tracking information so you may track the package online. Depending on the shipping method you have chosen, please allow up to 14 business days for the package to arrive to you from the day your order is shipped

Yes, we offer standard and express shipping options to most countries. Our international shippers include DHL and Japan Post.
