Fifteen tracks, PAGE is among the best album openers they have written, Blooming became widely known after its use in the Netflix film Kate, and The Dragon Cries was produced by Tony Visconti, who built records for David Bowie and T.Rex. Outright Geekery gave the album 5/5 stars. JRock News cited growth in lyrical depth and songwriting variety. FAQ
Where should I start with BAND-MAID?
CONQUEROR (2019) or Unseen World (2021) represent the band at full strength and have been reviewed widely outside Japan. For full context from the beginning, Just Bring It (2017) is where the catalog makes its leap to full-length albums and international recognition. For a curated overview before going deep, the 10th Anniversary Best Vol.1 and Vol.2 cover the whole decade with remastered audio.
What is an Okyuji?
Okyuji (お給仕) is BAND-MAID's term for their live shows. The band's concept frames the members as maids serving their audience, and "okyuji" refers to that act of service. In practice, an Okyuji is a full-scale rock concert. The term appears in live release titles including Tokyo Garden Theater Okyuji and Online Okyu-ji. Fans are referred to as "masters" (male) and "princesses" (female).
What is the difference between Type-A and Type-B editions?
For releases with Type-A and Type-B variants, Type-A typically includes a DVD or Blu-ray alongside the CD, while Type-B is usually CD-only with a bonus audio track. On Brand New MAID: Type-A is CD+DVD with three music videos, Type-B is CD with a live bonus track. The specifics vary by release, so always check the individual product listing for exactly what each format contains.
Are BAND-MAID Blu-rays region-free?
Yes. All BAND-MAID Blu-ray releases are region-free (Region A/B/C) and will play on any Blu-ray player worldwide. DVDs are different: the Brand New MAID Type-A DVD is Region 2 (Japan, Europe, Middle East) and will not play on North American Region 1 DVD players. Check individual product listings for DVD region information before purchasing.
What is a one-time-only pressing?
A one-time-only pressing means a single production run with no reprint planned. Once physical stock is gone, the release will not be manufactured again. Several BAND-MAID live releases use this format, including the Yokohama Arena 10th Anniversary set, the Tokyo Garden Theater one-time pressing, and the Online Okyu-ji box set. When these sell out at Amped Japan, the secondary market is the only remaining source, typically at a significant premium.
What does "first press" mean, and what does it include?
First press (初回限定盤) refers to the initial production run, often including bonus content not in the standard edition. For SCOOOOOP!!, first press editions across all formats include a randomly selected original guitar pick (9 standard designs plus one secret). For Just Bring It, the first press included a 32-page photo book in a slipcase. Once first press stock is exhausted, subsequent pressings are standard editions without the extras.
What is an OBI strip?
An OBI strip (帯) is the paper band wrapped around the spine and front of Japanese CD releases, printed with the title, catalog number, tracklist, and release information in Japanese. Original Japanese pressings always include OBI strips. They are a mark of authenticity and part of what distinguishes a genuine Japanese pressing from domestic or international reissues. All CDs at Amped Japan are official Japanese pressings and include OBI strips where the original release included them.
Why buy the physical CD if the album is on streaming?
Streaming delivers audio. Physical Japanese pressings deliver OBI strips, Japanese liner notes, physical artwork at print quality, bonus tracks not available on streaming platforms, and in the case of limited editions, Blu-ray or DVD content, photobooks, and special packaging that no streaming platform can replicate. For collectors, the physical object is the point. It is also the only complete version of what BAND-MAID actually released.
What currency does Amped Japan charge in?
Amped Japan displays prices in your local currency at checkout. Underlying prices are set in Japanese yen and converted at the current exchange rate at time of purchase.
Where does Amped Japan ship from and how long does delivery take?
All orders ship from Tokyo, Japan. Delivery times vary by destination and shipping method selected at checkout. See our shipping FAQ for current estimated delivery windows by region.
